We went to Charleston, SC for a visit last Wednesday and returned home on Sunday. It was our first family trip together (besides going to visit family in Texas and Birmingham). Addison did so well, but it did take some adjusting. The restaurants were not as fun, the beach was a lot more fun, and we learned that a 1 year old is not a very good tourist when it comes to listening to a tour guide. We had a great time and we were proud of our little traveler. Here are a bunch of pictures.
The start of our car ride. It took us about 6 1/2 hours to get there. We only stopped once for about 20 minutes. Addison was a very good rider for the most part.

6 hours into it. She was getting a little fussy. This only lasted about 15 minutes.
Before we could find an exit to stop and let her get out, she had fallen asleep so we just kept driving.
Unloading the luggage at the hotel. (Note: normally I don't let her have her paci except at bedtime, but it was late and she had a long ride so I broke my rule on this trip :) )

Getting her bath in the hotel. It was challenging the first night to get her to go to sleep. We are so use to putting her in the bed and shutting the door to her room. The problem with a hotel is that we are all in the same room. She kept on seeing us. Finally after about 30 minutes I just had to put her in the pack n play, we had to lay really still, turn on some classical music we got off the internet (www.pandora.com) and she cried herself to sleep for about 15 minutes. It got easier the next night but we still had to be very quiet and stay really still.
Eating breakfast at the hotel. We stayed at a Hampton Inn and were luckily on the first floor right down from the lobby. Having breakfast at the hotel when you have a little one is so convenient.
Walking the streets of Charleston. She loved to ride in her stroller and look at everything. She would go for hours as long as we kept moving. We did a lot of walking on the trip and it was very hot.
We took a carriage tour of the city. This lasted for about 1 hour. I don't think I heard much on it. I was trying to keep Addison quiet and entertained so everyone else on the tour could hear. Oh well. Kevin was able to get some neat pictures of the houses and city. We got a lot of ideas for our house to do.

The next day we started off going to Boone Hall Plantation. The 200 year old trees where really neat. Addison didn't do to well on the house tour. She wanted to walk everywhere.

This was Addison's first trip to the beach and she loved it. We went to Folly Beach. It was definately not as pretty as Destin and Gulf Shores but we still had a good time.
Addison attracted the storks when she got our her snack cup. She wanted to chase after them.

Our last day there we got up and went to Magnolia Plantation. Here is Addison drinking some sweet tea on the porch. We got smart on this stop and Kevin went on one tour and I went when he got back (it only lasted 30 minutes). That way Addison could play and we could enjoy the tour.

Going to the petting zoo. I had forgotten how nasty those things were. We didn't stay long and I don't think I will go back to one for a long time.

On the way home we stopped at Kevin's aunt and uncle's house. They live in the middle of Auburn and Charleston. It broke up our driving which was nice. They had a new puppy and Addison enjoyed playing with him.

Look slike you had a great trip! We went to CHarleston once with the MIddleton's before we all had kids. Addison is precious! We miss you guys!
